Interior combo is breath taking but the C-class mirrors are another indication of how much MB cares for this particular model right now.

There is no way the new Bentley could outshine it technicallywise. The Maybach is conceived and built like no other car. Remember that its 18-years old (W140, 1991) platform stands the comparison with the all-new Phantom one without any problem, and is not even that much heavier...

Gearbox and motor are merely here not to be noticed, so these don't matter anyway, and the Airmatic is just the best suspension on earth today as far as comfort is concerned. Furthermore, it is possible to fit the soon (few years) to be available Pre-Scan on the Airmatic system without problems.

The chassis is maybe old, but is a living proof that old-school MB engineering is not to be topped.

A big FL, adding flair, style and removing all visuals links to MB could change this car into what it should have been from start...the best car in the world.

No technical improvements are needed for that imo, just more style. Much more style..

This car is Donkey-Skin. A splendid creature, just covered with an awful skin...

Re: Maybach bringing back Zeppelin nameplate for Geneva Motor Show

Yes Maybach really is taking a lot from MB's previous design way and if you look at the front passanger and driver place you can see a lot of S class in it and that is why it doesn't look so attractive as the current MB design language.

But than again look at the rear passanger space - RR and Bently have some serious competition and if I would ever own an automobile like that I would never drive it. I would allways sit in the kingdom behind. I wouldn't care if the front would have Flinstones driving wheel and their style of driving around (you know the feet under the car) because I would just enjoy my champagne in the back with a massage comming from those comfortable seats and a nice cigar.

That is what Maybach is and if Dr. Z has anything planned for the future of the brand it will be nothing more than succes. Just wait and see - if they decide to build a new generation of Maybach it will blow you away.

Re: Maybach bringing back Zeppelin nameplate for Geneva Motor Show

Industry rumours in Germany point to the "Swansong" of the Maybach brand by this edition. Insiders report that future Maybach models are no longer financially viable in the current climate.

Shareholders are extremely disappointed about the lack of progress with the Maybach brand and extremely poor sales.
rumours point to a culling before the upcoming RR04 (yes they are extremely worried by this car's imminent arrival) completely destroys the sales of the brand.

Those are actually the new E mirrors and facelifted S class mirrors as well. It's the standard MB mirror now.

Re: Maybach bringing back Zeppelin nameplate for Geneva Motor Show

I must say that car looks stunning..

I like it inside out..it should have been like this from start..and by now evolve into something spectacular..

But i think a new modell from MM could make things better..

Im very interested to see MM´s future..(if there is in any at all)

Re: Maybach bringing back Zeppelin nameplate for Geneva Motor Show

Really there is nothing wrong with this car besides its styling and the fact that we here know its based on an old chassis. The average buyer won't know or care. The overall quality, ride, performance, build, etc are better than 99 percent of the cars on the road, that remaining one percent being the S-Class and RR Phantom. It is the styling and lack or brand name recognition that killed this car from the start. In reality it is still one of the best cars you can buy. Mercedes might update the technology during the facelift, but that would be very expensive for a car that sells a few hundred units a year.

Fast foward 6 years...........

Cut to the chase at the Mercedes dealership floor.....the biggest problem now is that when compared to the W221 (the Maybach made the W220 look and feel like a tin can) the design and tech are just too old to justify the premium. That puts Mercedes in a tough spot, do they really want to build a car better than the S-Class? That is what the next Maybach is going to have to be in order to succeed.
