Maybach's Twin SBC system still in use?

The SBC system has been a chronic thorn in Mercedes' side.
Manufactured by the Robert Bosch Group, the SBC system has led to the
recall of over 2 million Mercedes models (namely the E-Class), and
has played an integral part in the widespread "Mercedes quality
problems" you hear about so often.

So why is it still in use in Maybach models?

Is Maybach's Twin SBC system more reliable than SBC system used in E Class?

Did someone have problems with it?

The system is also still in use for the SLR models. Didn't hear about any problems…

The system is still used in SLR, Maybach and SL.
SLR and Maybach don't sell enough to re engineer a new braking system.
SL didn't have as many problems as the E class since it is used by taxi companies.

Plus all the bugs have been ironed out of it now. The thing with the taxi drivers happened early on in W211 production. Every now and then you read about a SL having a problem, usually a 2003-2005 model.

We never had any problems with the SBC system on our late 2005 / early 2006 model…but our E-Class has such a big wear of brakes and brake discs…it isn't really funny…

Re: Maybach's Twin SBC system still in use?

What's weird is I have customers who will go through two sets of rear pads before they need any on the front. I guess the SBC over compensates and puts more breaking to the rear.

Not sure about the SL, the pics I saw of the SL63 engine bay it looks like it still has it, but Im not 100% sure.

Yes SBC eats brake pads and rotors

How can you tell if a car has the SBC system by looking in the engine bay?
