I'd still take a 57S though.

Re: Maybach at the 2008 Paris Motor Show

Just thinking about it, Mercedes stood to make huge, gobs of money if Maybach had been a success. The hardware is a mix of the W140 chassis and Airmatic. The interior pieces and software are from the W220. This is why they've kept this car on sale, very little cost for initial development IMO. The probably spent as much on dropping it from the sky in New York and the entire advertising blitz as they did 1/4 of the development costs.

Re: Maybach at the 2008 Paris Motor Show

I personally dont think maybe is over in fact i think its far from over..
Yes the maybach has failed. But not becuase its a crap car beleive me it is a amazing car i have driven a maybach and its quality qaulity it makes the s class feel crap and alos the interior quality is amazing and the rear is the best i have sat in ever ...but the biggest mistake was to the design i think maybach failed because off the design if daimler made it look different outside and the front part off the interiro i think it would have been much better..

I think if they can sort out the design and use inspiration off the ocean drive and other cars they can get back on the road..

the main main thing is it must not look like a bloated mb..

Re: Maybach at the 2008 Paris Motor Show

^ no doubt about it M. ....Maybach is far more "intellectual concept" than a genuinely new and original product.

However, now they've built the brand ...they'll have to deliver a suitable product -- Meaning something that upstages the ostentatiousness of Rolls.

This product segment is all about what makes the biggest statement -- there really is no other reason for buying a car like the Phantom or Maybach.
