Nice shots but that honestly doesn`t look like a face/lift except for the white graph in the taillights. Maby I`m wrong but as I said. The Maybach is a $350,000k+ dollar car. Cars costing that much are not considered fashion trends that the designers wave their magick wands over to change to look more updated. The Maybach is a royal icon much like Roll Royce. These cars should never be updated with new looks and trends.

It needs an update badly, especially when a C350 has a better nav system with hardrive and the Maybach is still using a DVD. The car does IMO need a styling update since it wasn't exactly a standout to begin with. The 57S was a step in the right direction, but more is needed since this market is as much about looks as it is status. The current Maybachs share nothing with their kin from 70 years ago so I don't see why an update wouldn't apply. It is neither classic or good looking outside of the 57S model. Lets face it Maybach's current template is blank and a new look wouldn't matter one bit, it would likely help a great deal at this point. Maybach doesn't have a classic look like Rolls-Royce or Bentley to adhere too or draw upon so trying to keep things the same will only spell the end of this brand. A total re-work, re-design is in order if they are ever going to make Maybach relevant to the crowd currently buying up Bentleys and Rollers. M

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Maybach, history in brief The MM is indeed out-dated compared to S class but so is the RR and Bentley compared to new 7er and A8.But i think it's a consolation enough to know that although MM based on an "old" platform is still the most tech advanced compared to RR and Bentley. A total redesign of the brand is inevitable if they want to keep it goin and face RR and Bentley and i believe MB got the lesson well and the designers are working miracles now with the all new family due in three years time. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Maybach, history in brief Ahh...but you see the old-school Bentleys trade on just that, being old school and old-fashioned. That is their draw, claim to fame if you will. Their buyers wouldn't have them any other way, right now. Come 2010 who knows what the next generation Arnage family will be like. I cringe at the thought. The Rolls isn't as outdated as you think. It is a very modern car very arguably moreso than the Maybach. Even if the Maybach is more advanced than the Roller (which I doubt), the Rolls doesn't trade on its tech, it goes for a new age slant on the classic Roller themes. The Maybach is the one that trades on the numbers, features, electronics, etc. etc. so it needs to be more up to date than the Roller to compete. It should have the technical edge because it doesn't have the heritage, charm, that "specialness" side of the question, but I don't think it has the technical advantage either. Sure it will beat the Rolls up on the road, but that isn't exactly the point of these cars. A Maybach is an extension of a Mercedes so it should be the most technically advanced. The Roller has nothing to do with the 7-Series so it doesn't really have to be more technically advanced. Long as it looks and drives the part, people won't care about which version of Idrive its running. The sticky part for Mercedes/Maybach is how bad does Mercedes want to show up the S-Class as being the best luxury sedan in the world by introducing a truly superior Maybach? That is very, very risky. M
