But now that we know MB's future plans, I guess the ideal number of gears to have will soon change to 8.

Re: Maybach and Aston Martin would be cooperating on future models

Mercedes and Schwinn will debut the 10-speed automatic very shortly.

Maybach and Aston-Martin I like it. There is nothing to lose with Maybach if all of this is true.

Huh? As EnI has more than once told us, BMW was very interested in buying Aston Martin in the end of 2006/beginning of 2007 but Ford wanted to remain a 10 % or 15 % share and include a special clause that would allow them to buy Aston back in the future. Naturally BMW rejected the offer and Aston was sold to a consortium led by Dave Richards (includes John Sinders and two Kuwaiti investment companies).

True.

Under the initial Ford conditions: Ford retaining few percents in AM, and having a right of first refusal.

*******

That said: AM are in talks with also some other car makers (not only MB) about engine supply & tech-exchange. BMW included.
Remember BMW CEO Reithofer's words about possible engine & tech supply to third parties? AM has been a possible client.

I havo no fresh info on this issue: whether BMW are still in talk with AM, or AM is now in the "MB phase" of talks.

Re: Maybach and Aston Martin would be cooperating on future models

I guess the possibility that MB may entirely own AM in the future can not be ruled out?
