Jaguar and Maserati have amply demonstrated the allround superiority and smoothness of modern torque convertor transmissions with the fabulous ZF gearbox. It even makes some dual clutch transmissions seem like overkill. The single clutch, automated, sequential manual though, still has merit in terms of shift speed, directness and driver appeal in highly tuned premium performance cars like the F430s, SVs, 599 GTBs and so on of the world.
