Dear Mercedes, if this is your idea of a facelift, don't bother.

The ML needs new side mirrors in keeping with the new design language.
The front bumper needs a total rework, with agreesive looks.

The grill needs to be like the newer grills used in the GL and C sport.

For the love of everything good.... please get rid of that ancient command system with the screen way down there. Screens should be near the line of site (you got it right in the S class and the C class). If the current command is kept for the remainder of this generaton's life...they will lose a lot of potential customers. Technology counts in today's market.

^^ I agree with both of you BUT unfortunately, I doubt they'll do anything 'radical' even though they should.

The Comand will be modernized, more user-friendly, but it won't go in the driver's vision field. It will kept his actual place. It is not possible to change the whole dash design for a FL.

Promise? How will it be modernized? I hope someone at Mercedes-Benz took a flight to Japan or Cupertino to look in to electronics.

I don't know what they're going to do, but they're going to have to do something when the GLK shows up with the new C-Class' superior setup.

If this is what the facelifted M-Class will look like, count me out.

I'll reserve my final judgement when I see the real thing, but those bumper integrated rear lights look "pointless" and I don't like that "big space" under the grille: it looks "unfinished" in the spy pictures. Reminds me of the current Honda CR-V: a good-looking car but that front is horrible (with that big space underneath the grille).

The current ML is so classy and elegant looking in my opinion, why this radical change?

Agreed. I think door mounted mirrors would suit this car. I'll try to make a photoshop later tonight to show what I mean.

Current ML has aged extremely well so far. As Wimmer said, It's very classy and elegant. With the right trim it can also look very sporty. This FL looks like its ruining what is a fundamentally a very attractive vehicle!

They should save the big changes for a thoroughly reworked interior! I remember bitching about the outdated command when the car just came out.

They really need to find a way to incorporate the new command system. That the ML, GL and R-class interiors weren't designed to do this from the get go was incredibly and stupidly shortsighted.
