This was from long ago when the ML320 CDI was compared to the Hybrid Lexus. Here's the Mercedes Enthusiast version. Obviously a little pro-Mercedes but still entertaining to read.

I think they'll see how the GL420 Bluetec sells first, just my theory.

Or perhaps MB wants to show how smooth and frugal a diesel engine can be when compared to the hybrid technology. A V8 diesel may defeat that image...

Bighead, I recently drove the 420 and 320 CDI and honestly before you consider the extra $'s on the V8 CDI engine do try the 320 CDI I found it equally amazing.

I can't imagine spending the xtra dough on a 420. The 320 is soooo nice. 390 pound feet.

The ML420 CDI IMO is complete overkill. Useless, essentially. Unless you want to show off...
