Any chance BMW will make a M version of the X5 to take on this segment (ML63AMG and Cayenne Turbo S)? If they do, I'm sure it will kick butt. But BMW purists will say making a high performance SUV does not conform to BMW M's philosophy, right?
There will be an M version of X... But X6...

Those a great performance numbers indeed.

Can't wait to see what Q7 V12 TDI is capable of.

I have an X6 on order. I used to own and X5 4.8is but didn't fancy changing for the new E70 X5 since it looked to be slower (until BMW bring out a more sporting version). Hence I went for the ML63 until the X6 is released in 2008.

AMG make a wonderful engine/gearbox in the ML63, but chassis wise BMW can do better. Still, it's capable enough for carrying the family around.

Re: Road & Track, ML63 AMG Road Test

I still wish it looked less domestic and a bit more FX45-ish. The Infinity FX 45 and Range Rover Sport are about the only SUV designs I prefer.

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat???

Range Rover Sport is the best looking SUV in the market and Infinity FX 45 is the ugliest SUV I've ever seen in luxury market so i don't know what you are comparing here.

I'll take old X5 diesel over 2007 FX 45

So we share a preference for the Range Sport but dissagree on the FX (which at its time kicked butt all over the automotive design, esp. SUV segment, by the way!).

I am not comparing anything here, merely illustrating with examples what kind of design language I would tolerate on my own SUV (if i ever decided to get one). For certain, that SUV would have the underpinnings of the ML 63, though!
