I hope you weren't trying to imply that I'm one of them because I'm completely satisfied with a 570hp naturally aspirated V8 from Mercedes-Benz.

Uh the rumors about a 700hp turbo V8 from Mercedes have been around for years so "whatever" to your comment about someone cooking up fantasies.

Lexus LF-A supercar costs £250k

he Lexus LF-A supercar will go on sale in October, priced around £250,000.

The production version of the Lexus LF-A will be launched at the Tokyo Motor show that month and just 500 examples will be built over the next two or three years, depending on how long it takes to sell that many cars.

20 cars are earmarked for the UK, starting in early 2010, and each owner being introduced to their car at a private circuit in Spain by one of Toyota’s hand-picked driving superstars.

The car, which began life in 2003, will be fitted with a 5.0-litre V10 engine that can be revved to an extraordinary 9,000rpm.

Lexus engineers are confident the unit will produce around 550bhp with ease and with a power to weight ratio 366.6bhp per tonne performance should be up with a Ferrari 599, the car’s main competitor.

Stopping power is expected to come courtesy of carbon ceramic rotors sitting behind 20-inch wheels.

Suspension is by double wishbones and coil-over dampers at the front with a multi-link arrangement and coil-over dampers at the back.

The chassis-tub is made from carbon composite, which will give the Lexus LF-A with one of the stiffest shells in production car history, and the outer body skin will be made from aluminium.

Finally! I've been waiting for this one. If most design elements from the concept sees the day light at showrooms then the car will be worth the money.

Can't wait to see the production version of this one, god knows its been a long time coming. That price though....maybe too much for a Lexus no matter how good it is. Unlike a Ferrari, this car will have to meet the much cheaper GT-R being a fellow Japanese supercar slayer.

£250,000 for a Lexus is ridiculous. It better perform like a Zonda to justify that, if not why would anyone pick it over other exotics like LP560 or F430.

IMO, this Lexus will match all the extoics cars in terms of technical specification, however it will probably not deliever the full 100% driving satisfaction that you get from the Italians and Germans.

The fact that this car has undergone such intense and pro-longed development is a real feather in its cap. For that reason I'd assume the LFA to be largely bullet-proof reliability and durability wise unlike another competitor from the land of the rising sun, which is a car I like quite well.

I know that I will be crucified for saying this, but Lexus is going high-reving NA while BMW is going low-reving turbo
