just a side note.. i read that by 2010 intel will show a processor at 10ghz.. wich will be equall to a bumblebee´s brain .. haha thats CRAZY

Haha you want to hear why I was so pissed off? The computer died about 1 month after the warranty expired. I was kind of naive as that was my first personal computer and didn't get the extended warranty (which I buy for anything that's worth a lot to me). This was a top of the line desktop replacement, so I really wasn't surprised it overheated. I had an HDD monitor and it ran at around 47 degrees celcius (when it was just on idle) compared to 35 on my HP (Centrino). And weighed 9 pounds with the power adaptor and had a battery life of 55 mins. hahaha. I got rid of it at sellmylaptop.com and got 300 bucks for it... oh yea, this is after I sent it to Sony and they quoted me $1800 for fixing it!

Any idea what kind of cooling system this thing will have? Probably a 10 gallon tank of water

apparently processor speeds are meant to double every 18 months or so according to moores law.....yet recently its become kinda confusing.... just over 2 years ago i got a 2.8GHZ pc (no hyper threading), now the fastest is about...3.8GHZ? now that is hardly double is it? but they have added dual cores and hyper threading...so its becoming a joke, you could have a dual core 3GHZ which would be better than a faster single core processor......lol so geeky and confusing, talking of processors.........lets start another brand war!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol INTEL all the way! AMD are badddddddddddd lol! (no joke)

Well the problem with doubling the speed of the computer is that we have no way of cooling it. If it wasn't for the fact that right now, the only feasable (economically) option is air cooled computers, the progress has stalled. If that wasn't a problem, we'd see much faster computers.
I've never used AMD, but I doubt it's bad...a lot of people use it. But personally I've always gone with Intel as it is the safer choice.

What's up with your beef with AMD. This is how it all goes done AMD processors gives up to 35% higher fps during game play compared with Intel processors working at the same frequency. On the other hand intel processors are faster than AMD processors when it comes to converting movies och unzipping them due to intel processors working at high frequency, hence intel = heat problems. That means that if you are a gamer the obvious choice would be an AMD and if you aren't a gamer either of the brand will suit you fine.

well my mum actually had an amd pc for a few weeks, tried to install a game on it and wow it didnt want to work lol, that was our only amd thing ever, it seemed noisier than actually than our intel pc's so i would have thought that it was the AMD actually needing the extra cooling...lol! for multimedia and compatibility its intel all the way lol but AMD are cheaper i believe...
