Lamborghini CEO: No Final Decision Yet On SUV, Grand Tourer

Lamborghini has yet to make a final decision on an SUV model or a 2+2 grand tourer, CEO Stephan Winkelmann said in an interview with Auto Telegraaf.

The Dutch auto-enthusiast magazine said Winkelmann did confirm plans for a rear-wheel-drive version of the Lamborghini Gallardo that would be lighter and less expensive than the all-wheel-drive model.

Winkelmann also addressed concerns about cannibalization between the Audi and Lamborghini brands, especially in the light of Audi's announcement about its R8 supercar. He said Lamborghini will remain the top marque in the Volkswagen group.

im truthfully, not interested in one at all....

but the manufacturer is hotter than ever now a days, and maybe its a good way to go into the market.

It would have been cool if they came with a SUV for 1-2 years ago but no it's a bit late since the SUV trend is going towards the negative direction. The next hot trend is four door coupes and i would love to see Lambo produce a four door Panamra competitor.

Thats a great point and i definatley agree. They should move onto the 4 door coupe style look. It would be a great strength for their development and market advances.

Relax! If Bentley builds it's SUV (which is almost certain to happen) then Lambo won't make a SUV so there won't be internal competition between the two brands (which both belong to VW).

Lamborghini had already built "SUV"s long before they became popular so even if they built one today, I don't see it as hopping on any bandwagons. Personally I'd love to go off-roading in a Lambo.

Now if Ferrari was to build something for the SUV market, THAT would be the end of the world as far as I'm concerned.
