I do like the size of it - very small and sexy - time will tell if I come to really love it - I certainly don't dislike it, but I'm just sceptical of it - for now anyhow.

Hey guys, let look it like this: Would you like this car if there was no 1966 Miura???? Would you like it if it was a totally new car???

Look at the front overhand (? The part on top of the front wheel) and the curves. You can tell which one is the German version and which one is the Italian version. IMO, the old one just makes more sense than the new one. The problem with the new Miura is that I don't see how they improved on it in anyway... so if that's the case, scrap it and make something else.

These pictures of the original just confirm my opinions in my own mind - the original is soooooo much greater - you just can't, and shouldn't try to, recreate such wonderful history - the new model just seems superficial and unauthentic by comparisson.

The more I see it the more I love it. I'm glad they stayed true to the original (for the most part anyway). I was really worried about future Lamborghinis after they released the Gallardo (which I don't like one bit) but seeing this leads me to believe there's hope for the brand yet...
If you ask me the 60's were the golden days of car design and I'm happy to see manufacturers draw inspiration from that era.

Sure MikeJ, I agree, I'm happy too that they are looking to such a great era in car design - but this isn't so much "inspiration", rather it is a "Retro" copy of the old car - I wish they had been a little more adventurous and original.

Heh, I knew you'd pick on that choice of word

As far as I'm concerned doing a full copy of a classic, as has been done here, is much better than trying to implement particular features from the past into modern designs. Yes, it might not be a step forward as far as car design in general is concerned, but I have always been more interested in the results. It might be retro and it might be a bit clinical, but I love it nevertheless.

Re: Lamborghini Miura. - 01-06-2006, 03:42 PM

If VAG spent i billion euro on the Veyron they could atleast have spent one million euro on a good design team for the Miura . Although this car is very slick it needs more air vents in order to keep a powerfull V12 engine cool. If it's really going to be a Enzo competitor VAG has a big job on their hand, in order for it to compete with the CGT, Enzo and Zonda it will need to be made entirely out of carbon fibre and the engines out of aluminium. Hopefully they won't dissapoint us performance wise.
