 You might forgive the styling if the 2008 WRX handled anything like its less-ungainly predecessor. Subaru understands that, and has resharpened the WRX's chassis just one year into the new model cycle, while adding 41 horses and 18 lb-ft, making it a better match for the 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart's 237 hp and 253 lb-ft.The newfound power comes from a bigger turbo the size, but not the configuration, of the STI's, plus a new intercooler, larger-diameter exhaust, and low-density catalyst. Turbo boost is up from the old engine's 11.4 psi to 13.3. Front springs are 43% stiffer; rears are up 42%, and anti-roll bars are up 1 mm each, to 21/16 mm front/rear. 2009 Subaru Impreza WRX - First Drive - Motor Trend Martin will love it. M |
