The original Jaguar XJC was a two-door Coupe built between 1975-1978 and was based on the short wheelbase version of the Series Two Jaguar XJ. Though the car sold in pretty limited numbers, today, the car’s elegant proportions, pillarless door frames and vinyl roof have acquired cult status.

This latest version of the XJC isn’t anywhere near sign-off, but no car could so ardently celebrate the respectful transition to modernity Ian Callum has made with the Jaguar brand. It was all bowling greens and elbow patches before his arrival in 1999, and now we're (potentially) looking at a Jaguar XJC featuring a full-length glass roof, 21in rims and the new XJ's hi-tech cabin. Having this level of creative rope extended at Jaguar has only been possible because Callum remains one of the most powerful (and benign) men in the car industry.

Wow, the unrivaled CL may finally have a competitor. Good Luck Jaguar.

It actually works much better as coupe, blacked out rear pillar and all. Interesting, but what happens to the XK Coupe?

XJC= S Coupe

I must admit, it does look nice. I like the regular XJ very much too.

I guess, but for some reason I don't see Jaguar being able to sell both like Mercedes does. Time to get rid of the little rear seats (shelves) in the XK then.

The XK was planned before this man, and not to mention the XJC right now is pure speculation. No word from Jaguar, so this is some dude's fantasy right now.

The changes you want implemented don't happen overnight. They're not just going to say "oh, we should just take out the seats from the back of the xk" and it will happen. All this sh!t is planned in advance.

Mere details, no big deal at all. Its removing seats, not re-designing the car. If Jaguar is planning a XJC (yeah we know speculation) then they'd also be taking a look at the XK to make sure it doesn't become irrelevant.

It's a chop, but it actually works much better for that rear. Not so much for the sedan tho...
