Uh, you all are way to harsh about this Jag. It looks like a proper production version of a concept. Anyone that thinks any concept car like that one could be easily produced for production is an idiot. Otherwise we would see all production cars looking as sexy as that. So guys get over it. Good luck to Jag. I think this will bring people back to the cat.

Off course we all didn't expect it to look like the concept, I mean HELLO who would?

What it really is about is them disastrous head lights which look like a blend between Volvo S80 tail lights and the ones from the Jaguar S-type. If the head lights were more similar to the concept I would have had no problem with the car at all.

Further more the shape isn't as sexy and coupish as we expected. I don't even know why Jaguar bothered to heavily disguise the rear as if they were up to something unseen.

Jaguar is financially in big trouble which is sad because it is one of the worlds strongest and most recognized trademarks. If I was the head of Ford I would have made sure that this car is turns out to be everything it should be, and more. After all this car is supposed to be their bread and butter for the coming years.

Re: Jaguar XF Thread (Spy pics & info)

Well ok, I hear what you're saying and I agree that Jag could have been more adventurous with they're final design. However you have to realize that there are many dfferent potential buyers Jag has to think about. Most of the guys here are in their 20-30s range of age. Probably not Jags target. They're looking for the 35-50s range. And for that I think Jag has hit the nail on the head of a nice blend of sporting design and typical modern day luxury. So, if you think about the intended customer market I think Jag will have a winner here. This car is for upper middle class business professionals. This will impress even their friends with BMW 5s.

Re: Jaguar XF Thread (Spy pics & info)

wow what a big differance bettween the production and the concept , i really like the rear and side profile , the rear looks really hot , very classic, buff, and simple , but the front , the front is just not working it, looks like a hyundai .

The more I look at the front, the more I see Volkswagen influence. Ala Passat... and well every VW in production right now. They all look the same.

The rest of the car isn't bad, and I like the design of the rear end, but the front lights are a massive let down. The size of those things are massive, and the curves doesn't integrate well with the rest of the car.

Check out those lights on the RD-6 concept car, i reckon these ones can easily be made into production, and it will suit the XF much better than the current ones.

That is true, but it is equally unfair to judge a car based on its headlights. Some of us may want every single detail in a car to look good but reality is, every car has an ugly side. Like what Luw once said, beautiful cars always have a certain ugliness to them. I don't consider this Jag a particularly beautiful car but hey, as a Jag coming out from an almost bankrupt company, this is no half arsed effort.

I share all of your sentiments about the headlights but I'm willing to put a wager that at least 85% of the people who see this car will love it.

BTW, did you guys check out the interior? Gauges are in blue, they also have blue ambient lighting along the doors... heavily influenced by the A8.

Re: Jaguar XF Thread (Spy pics & info)

Frankfurt is not far away and I always give cars one last chance and that's when they are in a dark colour like black. That can turn Shrek into Cinderella.

You are right, from an almost bankrupt company, the XF is a very good effort from Jaguar. I did not expect the rising gearnob or the air vent covers to make it into production, but they made it.

I saw the ambient lighting, which instantly reminded me of the A8. The ambient lighting is very bright though, and it spread across a wide area, I wonder where the lights are positioned.
