Ok so I have to decide between a 2 door Audi A3 2.0Auto or 4 door 120i BMW by tomorrow morning (EST).

The BMW Pros:
* looks fantastics (has the aero body kit)
* leather interior
* a few more goodies (rain sensing wipers, auto headlights, ipod connection, MP3 compatable CD player).
* The manual transmission is very nice
* Better steering than the Audi

Cons:
* It only has 6 months of the warranty left (is reliability a problem

)
* Is a bit more expensive
* Will I get tired of the manual?

* Sound system is good, though not as good as the Audi
* 28000km's
* Firmer ride
* Will seeing the facelift on the road make my car loook OLD?

The Audi Pros
* 2.5 Year Warranty Remaining
* It's almost brand new (only 4000 km's)
* Excellent sound system
* Great Auto
* More comfortable ride

Cons
* Less goodies than the 1 (not sure if the CD player is MP3 compatible. Audi Fans?

)
* No auto headlights or rain sensing wipers
* Cloth interior
* A bit dul looking at the back compared to the the very hot 1.
* Looser handling (steering)

Which would YOU chose and why.

I so hope this helps with the decision. Right now im swaying towards the BMW but am going to see the Audi one last time tomorrow morning.

P.s. I'm 22 btw...if this influences your advice somehow.

My mother is buying either a 118i or 120i but I doubt it will change your decision

120i has 150hp, what about the Audi?

Oh btw a swedish carmag had a survey among 1er owners and the carmag also stated the most common problems with 1er. Im at work now but I can look it up later today-

Audi has the same output but being an auto its acceleration is slower (9.5s vs. the BMW's 8.7s).

Both are fantastic cars. Most reviews have said that the BMW 1-Series is by far the better sports car than the Audi. On the other hand, the Audi A3 doesn't drive badly at all and is available with AWD as an option.

Personally, I am not a hardcore sporty driver, so the Audi A3 would appeal to me because I feel the styling is more attractive and it drives sporty enough to satisfy even eager drivers.

In the end, I don't think you can go wrong with either.

Like I said before my mother is buying a 118i or 120i and she is no racedriver

if she buy a 1er and find it attractive then its no racingcar, thats for sure

But then she isnt choosing a sportpackage which Mercedes is buying.

Was it very stiff with the Aeropackage, Mr MErcedes?

Andreas, don't get upset because I voted for the Audi.

Like I said, the BMW 1-Series is hands down the better performer and sports car, no questions asked. But for me, the Audi has the more attractive styling and drives sporty enough for my needs, hence it is my choice. If someone gave me a BMW 1-Series, I'd be happy and I know it's a great car.

Question for you: Why isn't your mom getting a 118d or 120d? I assume she doesn't drive a lot (long distances for example)?

Its got the aero package...but not the sports suspension. So it sits on a standard suspension set up on 17inch wheels. It's not harsh, but it's a few shades less compliant than the Audi. The payoff is fantastic dynamics!

My brother bought an A3 Sportack 1.6 FSI last month (price 26.600 euro) which is a great car.
Sporty enough and comfortable at the same time plus it has enough interior space in the back to take his friends for a ride. My brother didn't wanted to buy a 116i cause he drove one and found it slower and less comfortable than the Audi.

I would also vote for A3 but 1 series is nice too.
