I found this online on their webpage, a survey among swedish owners both Audi and BMW

This survey was done 2006-10-19, only swedish owners.

+driver fun
+antispin very helpful during wintertime
+ Good with space in the trunk

- Backseat little small
- Runflats is a problem for some owners (noisy and unstable)
- squeak from the brakes (not really a problem but can be annoying)
- owners has reported rear window dryer/wiper to broke down
- engine controller to give up
- backsensor to give up

Audi A3, March 2006, only swedish owners

+Interior materials
+reliable
+ owners like the cockpit

- Backseat small and the trunk is little
- dont choose Sportchassi, it ruins the comfort a lot
- some problems experince the car wont start sometimes
- The coldsystem for the climacontroller has stopped working
- electrical windows wont work sometimes
- some problem with airbag light
- squeak from the brakes (not really a problem but can be annoying)

Many of these problems can of course be fixed but this is what some owners has reported.

The trunk is small? Sportback has 370 lt, how much more they want in a hatchback.

they are still comfortable enough for daily-use.

My parents simply havent understood the deal with diesels yet

Don't get me wrong, BMW's are definitely comfy and sporty too, but in this case, it was also the styling of the A3 which won me over. If someone gave me a 1-Series or an A3, I'd be happy with either. Even if it is a 118i or A3 1.6.

After this beautiful facelift with all the improvements - definitely 1er!

If you asked me 1 month ago between 116i and A3 1.6 i'd definitely suggest you the Audi.

Still, you can't go wrong with any of those two...

Mr. Mercedes, you should not listen to our votes. This car is for you right? dont buy a car after what others tell you, follow you heart and buy the car you like the most.
In this poll you will propbably see Audi fans to vote for Audi and bmw fans to vote for BMW. Make up your own mind, that works the best

Not much a fan of either, but the A3 looks alot better than the 1 Series in my opinion! But for a car not to have leather is crazy!

For that reason alone I'd buy the 1 Series.

Hopefully I've been of assistants!
