I really don't get how you can make claims about
Mercedes power, and this is coming from a Mercedes enthusiast! Are you saying that Audi & BMW are incapable of putting 600+HP in their vehicles?! The only way your claims would matter to me would be if you could go class by class and say "Look with equal power Mercedes is making faster cars than it's comp" but we can't! So I'm asking what's your point? Mercedes puts alot more power under the hood of their cars and you and I know it, so what? So if Audi's S8 or BMW's 760 had a V12 with 612HP you don't thing they would be able to match the S65AMG? I'm proud of Mercedes straight line performance times, but I care alot more about handling and agility!

I like all three cars, especially in diesel guise. After reading this article I'm just about to forget totally about V12 petrol engines.

my point is at this moment MB owns every damn engine category of the luxury class.. and that is a fact..
see power,torque,sales whatever.. doesent matter..
but that does not mean that im saying that the other cars suck..or that BMW or Audi cant built such engines.. i say welcome.. build em so we can have some competition and push forward to even better things..

and your concern about agility i to share.. but not in cars that weigh 2500kg and are over 5m long..

There were rumors of Mercedes creating a V12 CDI for the Maybach about a year ago. What happened to that idea?

It would be pointless for Audi or BMW to up their engines
output to match Mercedes IMO, all Mercedes would do is up their's that much more. Yes I agree with you that Mercedes
has upped their cars handling but their not the leader which is why all Mercedes fans talk about is power when it comes to talking about driving dynamics!

1) Performance car (BMW)
2) Track car (Audi & BMW)
3) Luxury cruiser (Mercedes & Audi)
4) All weather (Audi)

I didn't post this to start a fight, this is only my opinion of
each brands strong points!

Remeber that agreeing that they own the segment does not say that you have to make the S your first choice..as the other cars are probably better than most cars in the world

Before taking you on this debate with regards to your original comment, can you please clarify one thing: what do you mean by "own"?
Are you restricting your comment to just the S-Class, or all the Classes where there is an equivalent product from the competition? Are you talking about all types of engines (Petrol, Diesel, Natural Gas, Hydrogen etc)
Within the class itself, we are going to restrict our debate to a certain price-bracket, or displacement-bracket.
Are you going to debate on the basis of engine efficiencies and performance?
Do you want to talk along the lines of cost vs luxuriousness?
