BMW and MB were amongst the first two companies to use magnesium in high volume components, BMW using it for its new engine block and MB for its new automatic transmission. Also I'f im not mistaken, some body panels on cars like the CL are in fact some sort of plastic. THe front fenders if i recall correctly. These companies have stated on numerous occaisions, why pigeonhole yourself by overcommiting only to aluminium. So it's not like only Audi has commited to lightweight technology while the others are turning out porkers! ![]() |

The hood is made out of aluminum I believe. Correct me if I am wrong. For sure though, I know the trunk is made out of plastic. I always do the shopping for my family so I know. ![]()
