Re: Autobild: Mercedes ML350 vs Gr. Cherokee 3.0CRD vs Lexus RX400h.

The Lexus RX400h is getting a load of bad press lately, they should have made it much more economical!

Can some who can read german explain to me the reasons for the results?

The results are in this page: http://www.autobild.de/test/allrad/a...rtikel_seite=6

Lexus is loosing a lot of points in traction/handling/AWD ect.

Re: Autobild: Mercedes ML350 vs Gr. Cherokee 3.0CRD vs Lexus RX400h.

Why are they comparing the RX to those two, u can compare the RX to the X3. But anyways the new grand cherokee was really a let down to me when i first saw it and i`ve read some reviews, but nothing fancy.

We used to have a 97 Grand Cherokee which i really think design wise looked better than this generation and the one before it.

Re: Autobild: Mercedes ML350 vs Gr. Cherokee 3.0CRD vs Lexus RX400h.

When I first saw the redesign of the Jeep Grand Cherokee in press pictures I was appalled, but after seeing it a few times on the road and sitting in parking lots I really feel the design is great. I just think it's a shame that Jeep is moving further from its' traditional roots. Here's hoping that the next Wrangler will not follow suit underneath.

Hopefully soon, should be good, just a lot of motor for these comps. 4.2 V8? Seems like it would be out of place here.

Autobild compared the three cars to test three different engines: gasoline, diesel and gasoline-hybrid. Otherwise, they would have compared the ML350 against the RX330 etc. Anyways, here's the overall rating.

The Mercedes is the better car on and offroad, its more practical and comfortable, which can allow one to look away from the high fuel consumption. The best combination would be to make a hybrid ML350 (using the Lexus drivetrain) and selling it for the price of the Jeep. The Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited is the cheapest SUV here - and comes standard with a lot of offroad technology - which in the Mercedes is available as a cost option, and Lexus doesn't even offer it. Amazingly, the Lexus is 1000 Euros more expensive than the Mercedes with a simple gasoline engine. Another downside to Lexus RX ownership, the car has to visit the shop for maintenance every 15,000 km.
