Corvette on top as fgar as performance goes, Porsche 997 TT again disapointing. Gallardo best looking of the bunch.
What part of the 997 Turbo's performance dissapoints you? I see the 997 Turbo and C6 Z06 quite similar in straight line performance, but when it comes to the in-time acceleration time the 997 Turbo nukes the Corvette.

but I know what you mean, but this is AMS and they seem to prefer comfort over sport.

anyway Karma for you....
Thanks.

The review didn't talk much in detail about the handling qualities about the cars. They just sort of drifted over all cars and gave a quick summary, often with some pointless info too.

0 to 200 the Corvette wins, furthemore it defeats the Turbo on just about any track, on some cases slauther would be the word. Not to mention the Gallardo also beats the TT on tracks.

Now were is that fearsome 911 that says italians FEAR ME or YOU WILL BOW DOWN ?!

The Vette is now that car not the Turbo.

Re: [scans] AMS - M6 vs Gallardo vs Z06 vs 997 TT - 12-06-2006, 10:59 AM

We found the Porsche 911 Turbo to be more comfortable than the BMW M6, despite the M6 offering more interior and luggage space and being the better long-distance driver.

ehh? M6 is better for long-distance rides but the 997TT is more comfortable. if the M6 is better for long distances then how can a TT be more comfortable?
First time I hear about such thing...

I understand what you're saying, but i'm going to have to wait for Sport Auto's supertest of the 997 Turbo to make a final decision.

Well there's the GT3, which despite lacking most of the power of the Corvette and the Gallardo pretty much matches them on the Hockenheim (that vehicle was running on Michelin Cup tyres, but still )

The GT2 should put up a fierce fight when it arrives

P.S. - Thanks Wimmer, karma from me too

I know all that, but I wanted the Turbo to be like it used to be (and the GT2 is now) the italian's terror, quite frankly the Z06 is my favorite car in the range for now.

I understand

It's true the Turbo isn't quite as raw as it used to be, it's more luxurious than it ever was and that's why if i was buying a 911, the GT3 could be my choice.

Anyways

The M6 was comfortable, but the Porsche was better in comfort, according to AMS. The reason the M6 has the edge is because it is bigger on the inside and AMS said it made the better long-distance cruiser / sportscar because of this.

sorry but AMS is smoking. 997TT has stiffer suspension and the seats in M6 more comfortable than the 997TT I got a ride in. 997TT has comfortable seats, I can agree with that but the suspension is a different story. Also the engine in 997TT is more noticable. In fact this is the first time I read in a carmag that 997TT is more comfortable than a M6. If I wanted to do a long-distance, M6 is my choice (and not because its a larger car).
If AMS like the comfort so much they should have placed the 997TT on first place and not the M6.

However I see that M6 scored better than 997TT in seat comfort front and back and suspension (beladen) same points to TT as M6. Total score in driving comfort (Fahrcomfort) for M6 is 78 p and 72 p to TT.

I'm a little bit confused by AMS rating.

I'm with Imhotep on this. The Z06 is definitely a terrorizing car. I mean it's not just terrorizing the italians but germans and the rest of the world. If there is anything GM has done right with all their car troubles in the recent years is the Corvetter program. I think out of all the companies in recent years who have actively targeted the legendary Porsche's, so far Corvette has been the only one who has done something about it.

The only problem I have with the Z06 is the interior. I mean they could've made the interior nicer. It's functional, but not inviting. By the way, I've driven the normal Corvetter (400hp) around a track...it's pretty f###ing fast, I can only imagine what the Z06 would be like. What I loved about it was the fact that it's so easy to control the car. I was holding powerslides so easily and effortlessly. That car has won me over.
