Re: Car and Driver: The Lightning Lap

How the hell did the Viper, Elise, Caymen and Vette beat the M6??? They probably forgot to push the power button... Im starting to think C&D reviews are bull sh*#. It should have been like this. Z06, Ford GT, M6, SRT10, Vette, Elise, then Caymen.

Re: Car and Driver: The Lightning Lap

Thanks for the post Karma deserved.

I'm dissapointed with the M6's time, it should have easily beaten the Cayman, it certaintly has in other tests.

Re: Car and Driver: The Lightning Lap

I think for M6 they forgot to push the power button, but there is no way the M6 could ever take an SRT-10 Coupe on the track.
I've noticed that the SRT-10 is american comparisons always gets numbers very close to the ZO6 and GT
On secound tought maybe and most certainly it's because they use the SRT-10 Coupe not the SRT-10 Roadster.

Re: Car and Driver: The Lightning Lap

its probably unlikely the M6 would outgun the SRT 10 however:

SportAuto, Nürburgring (Nordschleife):
BMW M6 -------------------------------------------------- 8.09 min
Viper SRT-10 --------------------------------------------- 8.13 min

Hockenheim
BMW M6 -------------------------------------------------- 1.14,4 min
Viper SRT-10 --------------------------------------------- 1.14,9 min

0-200km/h
BMW M6..............................................12 ,8
Viper SRT-10...................................14.0

slalom
130 km/h - BMW M6
127 km/h - Dodge Viper SRT-10

although i was looking at it and they did use the roadster but still....

Re: Car and Driver: The Lightning Lap

From the rules listed on page 3

Quote:
The were four drivers...each man was assigned to drive four or five cars. The driver cycled through the cars running a session of three to five laps in each...the drivers cycled through the cars a second time. The lap times on page 70 are the best each car produced that day.
