I was thinking about ceramic brakes yesterday and was thinking they are obviously an amazing option, but would you get them? Or would you stick with the standard steel units? Or perhaps it depends on the vehicle.
If it depends on the vehicle which vehicles would you get it with or without.
To help freshen thoughts, i've added a list of cars with feature optional ceramic brakes.
* If i've missed any car that you'd like to add, feel free to mention it.

I would not. I don't know about the other cars but thinking about the Porsches, the PCCBs are quite expensive and for fairly normal street driving I don't think they would be necessary. I don't race, but even if I did, I don't think I still would get them since I believe that it's pretty easy to mess up the rotors when getting off-course on gravel for example. And again, the replacement is very expensive. My guess is that the advantages of the PCCBs would not be worth the cost. | | | | | Advocate

The ceramic breaks for the Porches are quite expensive imo. Unless you are doing alot of track work you probably won't need them. I found the stock breaks on our Carrera S to be fantastic on the roads in Deutchland and on US Roads, wet and dry.
They are about $8000, which to some people may be too much. For others it might be pocket change, depends on the buyer. | | | | | Fanatic

If I ever bought a car that was to be used mainly on track, or a serious supercar (Zonda F category) or something of the like, then yes. Otherwise no. | | | | | The Photo Phanatic

Price is the issue here IMO.
If I was rich and 5-8k would be easy for me, than for sure I'd get them.
Otherwise, it's a little too expensive for my blood. | | | | | Global Moderator

I'm surprised alot of these cars don't have them as standard. For the price you pay for some of these vehicles you would think they'd throw them on for you. | | | | | Enthusiast

They are about $8000, which to some people may be too much. For others it might be pocket change, depends on the buyer. | On the track the stock brakes are lousy, but just changing the pad to a Pagid RS14 or more aggressive RS20 or 29 makes a huge difference. The only thing is on the track the front rotors only last 2-4 weekends depending on how aggressive the pad is. The best price I have gotten for front steel rotors plus labor to install them has been $1200. The ceramic rotors are a lot more, so I'm sticking with steel. I think steel rotors with RS29s will out brake stock ceramic brakes all day long, and the pads are cheap. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
