The best price I have gotten for front steel rotors plus labor to install them has been $1200. The ceramic rotors are a lot more, so I'm sticking with steel. I think steel rotors with RS29s will out brake stock ceramic brakes all day long, and the pads are cheap.
Thats why I read these forums.

Of course it depends on the car. For a performance car like the Zonda F Ceramic is a must! On a standard or luxury car I'd have steel.

I'd buy them right away.

Too bad BMW doesn't have them. A REAL shame

Ceramic brakes are now widely avialable as original equipment and aftermarket for many more vehicles than Ferrari 599's or Mercedes SLR's. Numerous brake manufacturers including, but not limited to, Akebono and Remsa (TRW) are supplying OE vehicle manufacturers with Ceramic brake pads. Some of the "other" vehicles featuring ceramic as original equipment are:

Lexus
BMW
Chrysler
Jeep
NIssan
Land Rover
Kia
GMC Truck
Saab

As yoiu can see, Ceramic is no longer only for the rich & famous. By the way, many of these and other vehicles have feature ceramic brakes for over 5 years! ( BMW ceramic pads are avilable for most models, but ceramic is not original equipment, yet. )
