I must be reading the acceleration times incorrectly??? Those times are way too slow for both cars.

they arent pointless..they give a pretty good insight on how the car performs..for us who dont have these cars can get a good idea about how good the car is.. and make up our own mind from that info about the car..

AMS did say that the E63 AMG was much sportier driving and handling wise than the old E55 AMG. This is a real sports sedan that is also comfortable despite the sporty suspension setup.

The M5 on the other hand is still the king when it comes to sports sedans. It focuses little on comfort and is the car for the purist driver.

You're right (partially), they give you a nice picture about those cars if you're going to buy one, but it's not only what they say about the car that makes you go for it... There are plenty of other reasons...

they are to me, at least the winner. I buy what I want and not based on carreviews and their winners.
Besides we already know pretty much about these cars. E63 isnt that different from E55 and I cant see m5board.com members changing their M5 for a E63 or vice versa on mbworld.org.

AMS isn't really noted for looking for the best 0-100 km/h times. They usually want to test the essence of the car and believe in telling the consumer more about the car than the performance. In all my AMS magazines, the 0-100 km/h times are usually slower than the same car in America or elsewhere for example. If it helps, US-spec Mercedes' get different final gear ratios biased towards acceleration.

I wouldnt say focus on little comfort, there is a lot of comfort in M5, much more than M5 E39 and compared to other sportcars. Comfort is on pair with 545i if you ask me.
However, E63 has better comfort but it doesnt mean M5 dont have much comfort.
