![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Design Lingo Poll So now BMW has gone through refreshing 2/3s of their sedan line up.. Only the 3er to go.. While MB is at the same stage.. more or less..with a new S class closest for update.. If you look at the sedan line up .. you HAVE to see that the BMW has gone for a more unified look across the line up.. While MB has a extremely differentiating line up... What do you like more? A unified design philosophy.. with the risk of everything looking the same but different size.. Or do you prefer.. Near no unity besides the normal trademarks of the brand.. with the risk of no red line through the line up..?? PS And please for gods sake..this is not a poll about what design appeals to you most.. Think of it..as would i like my fav brand ( BMW or MB) to be more different or more unified.. Oh and sorry to the Audi guys.. i didn't take Audi in the equation as they are at cross roads awaiting a new Design defining A8... Pictures: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Happy Voting ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I am exactly in the middle! I want a unified design language for the core models. In this case, I want a unified design for the C/E/S and 3/5/7 combinations. But as far as the non-core/lower volume and halo cars are concerned, I want complete differentation. Just think of the similarities the Z4 has with the 3/5/7, or the SLS with the SLK/SL roadsters. This is what I want, nothing more, nothing less. ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I take whatever looks the best. Before Bangle era, many bimmers shared similarities just like they seem to do now. Nothing to get upset about, maybe BMW in the future are going the same route as the Bangle era again. Who knows. BMW are doing what Mercedes used to do in the past and now MB are overtaking what Bangle did. I think this debate is strange, both carmakers have done similarities in the past and in the future it might happen for MB again. Then what? are we going to hate Mercedes because they start building cars with similarities? Its threads like this that might make you regret posts like this in the future. ![]() Would love to see an option to vote for both.

![]() | All those MB's could be mistaken for nothing but Benzes. They've done an excellent job of giving each class a completely unique car, but with obvious design similarities. Job well done. The BMW's on the other hand are starting to look a bit like generic variations of each other. Same car, made fatter here, thinner there, rounder here etc. Audi. Let's not go there with the stupid things they've been doing. |

AS you say..both brands can do both and have done.. But what do you like more? Diffrence between modells..or unity.. Its a simple question.. Which really doesent have to do with what brand you like ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | IMO there isn't really that much difference between the degree of separating design details if you compare the exterior of BMW's sedan models to Mercedes'. The interior might be more similar between the new BMW models but on the other hand the E-Class and C-Class interiors are very similar as well. Overall the C-Class and E-Class are very close in design while the S-Class is clearly different. But that's due to the fact the S-Class represents the previous generation design with round shapes whereas the C & E belong to the newer boxy design language era. Although with the facelift the S got some tweaks that made it blend more easily in the group. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Hmm... I appreciate a differentiated lineup- IMO I believe that each car is different and thus deserves its own unique design and character.

![]() ![]() ![]() | In my opinion MB is implementing a similar design language to all its up and coming models, the S Class obvious the exception, but it is of the previous generration design. The new C Class, E Class, GLK and SLS all have the same design language and look as much the same as the 3, 5 and 7 Series do. So to me this thread is hyprocrisy if it branding the BMW line up as unified and the MB as differentiated... MB can't decide on a unified design that works! Bmer hit the nail head on in my opinion. Kudos |
