MB without a doubt..

The history is unmatchable..
The products has defined what cars are today..
The tech has made cars what they are..
The Recognition is unmatched.. (besides ferrari)

I mean every car brand has something special..but if you take away 1 of these brands and see which one would do most harm or slow down the evolution of cars..
Its NO DOUBT Mercedes Benz..

PS
But is MB doing the best work of em all TODAY?
Well thats a diffrent thread..

Difficult poll, ambiguous. Is this what is the best car maker or what is the best car brand, where brand represents something more than just the products?

If it's down to brand cachet, Ferrari. They only do what they do. But what they do, they do best.

Then Porsche, then Mercedes Benz, then BMW...

There are so many brands that I truly enjoy….

Honda – My Ridgeline has proven to be a driving pleasure. I have not had any major problems with the car (truck) at all. Hondas are very dependable and provide a level of comfort at a low price. I have also driven other models such as the Accord and loved it. The Accord had such a smooth ride and reasonable performance. There designs may not please everyone, but I like their unique approach.

Toyota – My Camry has 140k miles and still going strong. Dependable for 10 years… I have had some costly repairs, but not too much. I like where their company is going and they have such a wide variety of products that can fit everyone’s needs. Especially after working for Toyota a few years back I even have a greater appreciation for their cars.

Nissan – The Maxima is nothing but the truth. The company has really done a complete 180 in the last couple of years. Better design, better products and better engine choices. They have a few bumps with a couple of recalls, but for the most part their a good company. I drove my friends Altima and I love how their focus has been more on a sportier ride. The GT-R is another big plus for the company. Who knew a V6 could be so powerful. This car has achieved what no one though possible. They built a Porsche killer that can even run with Ferrari and Lambo.

Lincoln – I use to own a Town Car and although it wasn’t sporty, it had a remarkable level of comfort. It was totaled a few years back in a hit and run and I miss it everyday. The Lincoln Navigator has been one of my favorite SUVs of all time since it came out in 98. It made the whole industry rethink the idea of Large SUVs and is possibly the reason why we have the Cadillac Escalade and Mercedes-Benz GL. I love their new rides like the MKS that shows how Lincoln is trying to improve. Always a personal favorite of mine.

Infiniti – I love all of their cars. I still miss the Q45 today. The G35 made the whole industry think twice when judging entry-level luxury cars. Even beat the 3 series a few times. The FX45 introduces the world to a different kind of car and showed the world Infiniti’s creativity. The M45 Sport was simple a dream to drive with extraordinary power that even out powered it’s German rival at the time.

Bentley – Such sophistication can’t be ignored. The Arnage has been a long time favorite and the Mulsanne does an fine job of replacing it. The Brooklands is the ultimate luxury coupe and the Azure…Heaven.

Ferrari – Ever since birth, I have loved that company. There engines, performance and exotic styling win me over every time.

Lamborghini- Nothing like the Magnificent Bull….

Bugatti – The Veyron…There is NO CAR on earth…Let me repeat that ….The is NO CAR on earth that can touch it in performance. The 16 CYLINDERS is above supreme. The car is superior to every sports car every built. The announcement of a Sedan has fulfilled my every wish.

Jaguar – They went from boring to thrilling in a few years. Only thing I need to say is three letters…XFR.

Highest’s #1 Brand – Mercedes-Benz

Every element of a Mercedes-Benz is perfection. Their designs, engineering, performance, history, brand recognition, technology, quality and dependability are unmatched. They were the first for a lot of things in the Automotive industry and they still are the first in doing this today. Mercedes is an innovator and somewhat of a motivator for the Automobile world.

Who on earth would build a four-door coupe that looks like a dream? –Mercedes-Benz

Who would put a V12 612hp engine in a sedan with unmatched performance? – Mercedes-Benz

Who would go back and build a retro car of the Gullwing and have it look like perfection? –Mercedes-Benz

Who for several years would build a Sedan that cost up to $200k and still sell more Full-size sedans then any Automaker on earth? – Mercedes-Benz

The list could go on and on. Mercedes –Benz has also had some classic designs. The S-class is one of the most powerful looking sedans on earth with remarkable engineering and technology. Mercedes-Benz entire line has never looked so good. They are never afraid to build a car that people want. They don’t make excuses they make it happen. Other companies build concepts when they build production cars.

I can think of a company other then Mercedes-Benz that I like their entire line up of cars offered in the US. Every single one of their cars is remarkable.

Clearly Mercedes-Benz is someone's favorite. The lineup looks really good in those pics.

Exactly! Of course a new V6 would be nice addition.

Martinbo, I'm suprised that Subaru isn't on your list.

HoH, despite my admiration for Subaru as a carmaker, as a brand I can't objectively place the brand per se in the same light as an Audi, BMW and Mercedes Benz, let alone on the level of a Porsche or Ferrari.

Subarus in reality alienate more consumers than they attract - regardless of how many people do end up moving to the brand and how much growth they're experiencing. Typically, in just about any market, for every 2 people that do end up buying a Subaru, a hundred others will look elsewhere. Some even, vehemently put off by the quirky styling and utilitarian interiors, would rather sell their mothers on EBay than buy a Subaru.

Realistically, I don't blame them, because in truth, you either "get" Subaru or you don't.
Another perception that I have of the brand is that the brand cachet of the models is stronger than the Subaru brand itself. Ask anyone what Subaru means to them and they immediately start thinking of a particular model like Forester or WRX rather than the brand with Symmetrical All-wheel Drive in all their cars.

It's for these reasons that I think that Subaru hasn't yet achieved the brand status of the prestige marques out there...

Are you discussing the brand or the company? Brand is related to marketing and customer perception and is definitely not synonymous to "company".

How to do we judge a product line based on brand recognition? Sorry im confused.

As for a brand: yes Mercedes is historically the best brand. Its logo is iconic, its history - rich, etc etc. However recently, with quality issues, over proliferation of products (an e class coupe....WHY????), maintenance issues and a general lack of true innovation (unless u consider a four door coupe an innovation).. its been lacking. So the brand has been tarnished. Still i feel its one of the strongest ever.

As far as products go: BMW.
