Don't get bent out of shape just yet. We know this isn't exactly a fair fight. The BMW M3 sedan requires a whole G6-worth of extra cash to bring it home, but hear us out. This is less of heads-up battle than it is a look at how much the extra $25K gets you when it comes to performance sedans.

With the soon-to-be-defunct G8 GXP, spending $42,000 puts you in one of the best Pontiac muscle cars ever. It's a missile in a straight line and surprising capable when you throw it around a little. Doesn't look half bad either.

The BMW M3 is a legend, and for good reason. It takes what is arguably the best sports sedan ever and turns it up three or four notches. That includes the price, however, and now that it's well into the $60s, we can't help but wonder if it's really worth the cash.

Interesting but kind of pointless at the same time. They might have similar power output but the Pontiac is a class bigger than the M3, and I am not sure if the GXP has the electro-magnatic dampers.

this is a easy choice for me. M3 all the way.

While the G8 GXP is a good car (and fast) why put it against the M3. This is a real apples and oranges thing. No one will cross shop for these cars.

M3 for me though, unless I ain't got the money.

I will take a 2011 G8 GXP, oh wait!!!

The Pontiac is the more sensible choice if your watching every penny while you still want good performance. I`d also be willing to bet the G8 is more reliable with fewer problems to.

Pontiac is dead. Long live BMW.

Except it's a Holden sold as a Vauxhall as well, but GM is in decay so who knows what might happen next.

Definitely the M3, for me. And I don't care if it is "more complex thus unreliable", it's more focused and just as practical.

Two things can mean here. Either you think Pontiac is very good looking and very BMW like in presence and style, or that BMW is going to take over and buy out Pontiac, the dead branch of GM, highly unlikely. Or wait, you think the world is going in complete dictatorship socialism where the ruler picks what's best for the state and all products are mass produced looking the same, what is most ideal and efficient for society, just like Communist Russia under Stalin.
