![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | The Cayenne Turbo should have been there instead, and is in fact targeting the same consumer group as the X5-M. Niche groups such as hard core petrol heads are those that buy the GTS and it's the same type of people who would buy an M3 CSL or X6-M. In terms of visual appeal the Merc wins even though I'm not a big fan of the ML. The X5 probably has the best engine. Both the Merc and Porsche do look much more mature and sedated than the X5 with its giant front intakes and colour coded bumpers. It wouldn't surprise me of some potential customers will find the X5-M styling to be a bit too much boy racer-ish. Lastly the Cayenne Turbo is due replacement in the second half of next year and is close to 7 years old now. Despite the controversial designs the car has served the car industry well in widening the performance SUV market. The X6 and the M version of it would most likely not have existed if the wasn't for the mega success of the Cayenne Turbo. ![]() |

![]() | I have one problem with ML looks, the hood is short and droppy ... the old model was criticized being a Mini-van with that hood I think it is still suffering from that syndrome. Now the cayenne vs X5 ... both looks nice IRL, the cayenne has one of the most successful facelifts ever... its almost an extreme makeover BUT it has a dated interior. very old although the materials (leather and headlining) look exotic but the layout is old fashioned and not my taste. However the exterior with the right color and rims is more organic than the edgy/flamesurfaced X5. The X5 interior is very nice but the old generation had this problem and I am afraid the new one will have it too, the X5 always comes at the end of BMW's desgin language which makes it a little dated compared to the current BMW design language, but this one is like a smooth transition from the V1.0 to V2.0 bangle AVH era, the dashboard is well put but the small screen and the old climate controls make it a little bit old compared to the 7er/5GT interior. Now which one would I choose, the X5: its the newest, most powerful and probably more engaging to drive. As I said, its a great off roader too but can't go for extreme off roading. The gearing is nice and almost always choose the right gear on soft sand. Interior space I think is better than the cayenne too (rear leg room). |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I'll have to see the X5 M IRL before I can vote. From the pictures I think ML 63 looks best. I don't like how flat the X5 M's rear is. The Cayenne GTS on the other hand looks like a wagon. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I have never really been a fan of the Cayenne but I like tha thaught behind the GTS. The X5M needs to be seen in person before judging it and the ML63 is a classic in this segment. Well, not an easy choise to make..

The Cayenne is down right ugly and the X5 M has a disappointingly weak rear exhausts that should belong to a normal V8 model not the most extreme version, and what the hell with those rims?! | |
