WT-F is the point of this test? Really, who thinks to themselves...hmm, should I buy the 911 or the X6?

I don't think the purpose is help a buyer decide weather to get a 911 or an X6 but to give a reference point for comparing vehicles in completely different categories. This is good test to show how much technology has made possible (to compare 2.5 ton trucks with the perennial sports car) and at the same time the huge gap that still remains.

911 4S with PDK is possibly the best sports car this side of $100k+. Compare a lesser car with comparable accommodation to X6 like 650 or CLS and I think the X6 would give them a real fright.

So the end result is still a gap...in other words still a pointless article.

That's a bold statement, and I think my friends ZR1 and GT-R have something to say about that.

So exactly how does the Porsche "Best" the ZR1 or the GT-R? Designs are subjective, that leaves the performance and the ride...I think there are numbers that say something totally different.

Anyways, sorry mods, I don't want this turning into a porsche vs. other cars thread. I'll stop now.

There is so much more to a sportscar than outright pace. Otherwise, the Audi RS6 and Cayenne Turbo might as well be included. Reliability is one thing (gearboxes being articles of consumption in the GT-R), image is another. Quality in every detail is very important (hello interior of the ZR1). Precision and feel are essential.

Don't get me wrong, the ZR1 and GT-R are my favourite cars from the US and Japan respectively. It is just that they have a few steps left until they deliver such a complete package as Porsche does.

But that is just me (and maybe Sunny).
