It sure does. It has a lot of presence - and that overall boxy shape fits the car extremely well.

What it bothers is is the styling / detailing: the used "flame surfacing" (sharp creases + convex/concave surfaces) and combined it with angular shapes & lines. They gave the car that robotic / mechanic look that lacks grace. Similar to Cadillac or Acura.

"Flame surfacing" works much better with more organic & rounded lines ... even no boxy shapes. As MB has proven on ODC & all those Zero concepts etc.

Be sure the next Benzes will be (more) organic - rounder, softer, less angular lines ...

I think many people forget what MB actually tried and did with the new E class.

Their main plan was to get customers to think off the W124 series and that is why they went for the boxt design.after the poor start to the W211 in terms off problems and reliabilty Merceds took a bold step and make the customers remeber the solidity of the W124 series merc.

When i saw and drove the first W212 that new brwnish colour i really loved the car and i must say u can really understand the design off the car when you see it in real...The one thing i didnt like was the rear wheel was to small for the car it looked a bit odd their..

The front looks very different in real then the picture you see shown here..

I wait to see the new Bmw next to the New E in real i am shure both will be great cars...and will cater for their customers and their needs. My main dissapointment for me with the recent BMW cars is they seem to have gone soft on styling and also almost all the cars i mean sedans except the 1 are all almost the same or simalar...

My views guys...

Cadillac and Acura also employ angular lines but their and Mercedes' design philosophies couldn't have been any more different. The Cadillac's have more defined angles and lines while the E-Class is commanding in its appearence but still managed to look normal as opposed to a movie prop.

I saw a Grey E350 today with AMG kit and I'm finally won over. The car looks teriffic -- formal, modern and very much a Mercedes-Benz.

We've yet to see the F10 in full, but I hope that BMW have gifted it with some distinct design features so that it doesn't look like generic.

What happened to BMWs diversity among models. It looks like a smaller F01 with maybe a couple E90 cues.

Guess the usual suspects are going to have to stop raggin' on Audi about "same sausage different lengths."
