1. BMW
Powerful but with good fuel consumption despite being a large car. Amazing driving dynamics.
2. Mercedes
Better comfort but less dynamic than BMW

Facit: Despite having a diesel engine both cars feels like a real luxury car.

BMW (245hp/540nm) / MB (235hp/540nm)
0–50 km/h 2,9 s 3,1 s
0–100 km/h 7,4 s 7,9 s
0–130 km/h 11,5 s 12,5 s

Tested fuel consumption - CO2: 8,4 lliter/100km D –223 g/km / 8,8 lliter/100km D –233 g/km

Re: Photos: BMW 730d vs S320 CDI Blue Efficiency

I had a chance to test drive a new 7er... After the ride, I was speechless... Although, I must say I had this feeling I was 30 years older when I entered the car. Everything around me was slow and not importan...

In the fourth picture, I find S Class' side much more attractive... Agree with me?

I guess the issue is the frequency / pitch (Hz). Since some noises - although of same level - can be more annoying than others of different frequency.
Perhaps in the case of F01 wind noise produces a sound of higher frequency, and that can be more annoying to the human ear than the lower-frequency sounds in S-class.

The AutoBild article confirms my theory: although the measured noise levels in both cars are almost the same, the frequency of the noise in 7er can be more irritating to some. The article say the possible sensitivity to such noise is very subjective.
