Isn't an Alpina a stock car?! In my opinion it is still a fair comparison - and when you say the Alpina is tuned for sporty driving it is even more impressive, that it doesn't need much more fuel then the Merc!

Re: Autozeitung: Alpina D3 Biturbo vs Mercedes C250 CDI BlueEfficiency

ree, any problems lately?

No, it's not stock! "Stock" Alpina vs, "Stock" Brabus, that'd be fair...

Alpina vs. C250...Hello!

To simplify that, it should be a 323d vs. C250 CDI.

Fair enough?

Re: Autozeitung: Alpina D3 Biturbo vs Mercedes C250 CDI BlueEfficiency

Good thing with Alpina is you get same warranty as with normal BMW's. Alpina and BMW have pretty tight partnership.

In this test I pick the Alpina, more exclusive and more BMWish than the Benz is

This Alpina engine is based on the 123d engine(?) so its pretty much a BMW engine-

I don't get what is so unfair about this comparison, the Merc costs more for crying out loud. And the Alpina comes with the same warranty a factory BMW does. If you were in the market for a car in this class and didn't consider the Alpina, you would be stupid.

Re: Autozeitung: Alpina D3 Biturbo vs Mercedes C250 CDI BlueEfficiency

That C250 CDI really is an awesome engine....could it be as awesome as the BMW 2.0 TT Diesel??? Or even more so? The Bimmer breaks the 100 hp per diesel-liter, and the MB diesel has a quite big torque advantage....very interesting indeed.

+1
Alpinas are made in BMW factories on BMW assembly lines, so from one hand is indepoendent company not owned by BMW , and on the other hand BMW is allowing alpina to use it facilities.
Both the Alpina and the Merc are similar cars with a bit different approach. If I was to buy a high performance diesel small sedan, those two would definitely be considered, so I think this is a fair test.

but even if its stock bmw or stock MB, all engines are tuned different and have different characteristics. You guys make it sound like this Alpina engine is better than the engines BMW offer.
