Both got 49 out of 60 point, but Porsche is better at everyday use. Weak acceleration times from the R8, massive performance from the 911 on the straight line. 0-100 km/h in 4,8 s (R8) and 4,4 s (911) 0-200 km/h in 17,6 s (R8) and 15,7 s (911) Hochenheimring: 1.13,4 min (R8) and 1.13,9 min (911) on the same typ of tyres. ![]()

Audi missed a great oppurtunity to complete the A8 when they didn't design a version of the DSG gearbox for it. M

It's the engine it really deserves. That's why I voted for the 911 with PDK. |

The 911 is build from the ground up to be an RWD car which is why the 4S models have always been inferior to the RWD when it comes to track performance. That is the main reason why magazines never use the C4S as a benchmark since the AWD system ads nothing to capability of the 911 except better traction in slippery conditions. On a dry track the 997C4S stands no chance against the 997CSSA Super test Audi R8: 8.04 min (R compound tires) Porsche 997S Mk.II: 7.50 min (semi-R-tires) |

But the 911 is special in the way that it doesn't need drive power from the front wheel since the engine being located in the rear generate traction other cars could only dream about. Therefore AWD is somewhat abundant is offered by Porsche as a nanny preventing novice driver from getting into trouble. |
