^ A-ha!

For someone who adores the M3 and 599 but never ever said that he would consider owning a DBS, this is not that weird actually.

Look, you must understand, there are cars that I rave about because they're cars for me. I see myself aspiring to them, dreaming the impossible even - those are the special cars that matter to me.

But, I never look at any car from just my own personal perspective. In fact, if I don't see merit the first thing I do is to analyse who this product ought to appeal to and why. I'm constantly putting myself in the shoes of other people I know or have met - people that have their own set of value drivers. Even if I had the money, I would never own an Aston Martin - they're not me. But I do very importantly recognise objectively why they hold so much appeal for many, many people. And, look, rationally speaking I know very very few people for whom a DBS isn't enough.

I don't stick up for a car because I'm a fan of it, I stick up for a car because I can recognise the virtue in it more objectively than most.

I wouldnt mind driving an Aston Martin for the summer. They are very very rare cars in Sweden and if you drive one you will be all alone on the streets among Volvo and Saab.

Re: AMS Nardo High Speed Test 2008

Look, to be fair, I'm not being entirely truthful about my "holier-than-thou" objectivity. Honestly, taking a good, hard look at myself I have to say that I - irrationally and subjectively - detest any French car bigger than a 3 door hot hatch. I think they're putrid and I can't possibly work out why anyone would want to own a Peugeot 407.

But hey, that's just me... we're all human and I hope you won't hold it against me!
