Expected result. After all the Cayenne has been on the market for more than 6 years.

I believe the Cayenne made its debut in 2002 if I am not mistaken.
The Cayenne GTS came out in 2007.

Yes the GTS came out in 2007 but it's still the same car as the Cayenne that came out in 2002. All that's different on the GTS is the suspension, lower height ride and manual gearbox. So the new Cayenne coming in 18 months will be closer to the X6 in weight and agility.

Re: Nürburgring-duell: X6 killed Cayenne GTS!

By all accounts Luw I would say that the GTS actually had the handling advantage. Look and the large gaps in acceleration between the two and the max speeds achieved on the Ring. I have no doubt that the time advantage of the X6 was made up by its swift acceleration.

The generation gap between both cars is merely 6 years by which the X6 is of a new breed developed after the Cayenne paved the way for 'sporty' SUV. Sure Porsche are known for developing very capable cars but that doesn't mean that the Cayenne is immune to evolution, so it's pretty expected that the X6 is more agile and advance.

Further more the Cayenne is a proper offroad SUV while the X6 was developed to spend the vast majority of it's time on asphalt, hence the splendid performance around the track. The only advantage the Cayenne has here is it's marvelous engine. Things will balance out more when the new Cayenne is here since it will be more of an urban SUV than the current generation.

Kudos to BMW though, the X6 is a very enjoyable SUV.

Re: Nürburgring-duell: X6 killed Cayenne GTS!

Even if the GTS was 10 seconds faster than the X6 i'd still take the X6.It's gorgeous and the cayenne is butt ugly IMO of course

BTW the acceleration times of the GTS is terrible the ML500 is faster than that with less power.

Does Autobild do full laps or Bridge to gantry? or was it raining or something? Cause neither of those times are too impressive.

You might be on to something there Sunny. Although these are SUVs one would expect at least either of them to run circles around the GTI(8.54),
