Why BMW can't differentiate the models more. Like Mercedes did with the E and CLS. Same platform but independent exterior design.

^^ BMW should have done this, you guys are right. It's a shame the X5 and X6 have identical grilles and interior. I too think it should have been like E and CLS! I remember when the first spy shots of X6 appeared, there was all this talk about this 3D grille and stuff...... never happened sadly.


May I ask where you saw them, and why you didn't take any pictures?
I never seen pics of old and new 7er side by side, and I don't think they even exist at this point on the net. Missed chance. I'd love to see this.

Very easy answer: because it's cheaper to do so.

For the comments about the difference between the Mercedes E & CLS, and BMW x5 & x6

You have to consider the timing as a factor. The x5 has a modern interior able to withstand its own for many years to come. It wasnt necessary for BMW to completely redesign a new one for the x6, as they are only like 2 years apart. As for the CLS, well it was very necessary to do so in the fact that the Merc E class interior is so old compared to the competition.

^^^ Nice excuse. Still has nothing to do with BMW not giving the X6 something inside to set it apart from the X5.

Give me a reason why they should make those two look different? does it really matter.

To add to the overall impression of the vehicle. Different body + different interior just might make it more appealing to a few more buyers. Same way the CLS does compared to the E-Class. It would go some ways towards justifying the steeper price since the X6 is as much about style as it is an upgraded driving experience.
