Some people here want every car on the planet to look aggressive. BMW have even taken a step back with the F01 and created is a front end which looks less aggressive than any BMW available for purchase today making the car blend nicely in with the A8 and S-class in standard trim. With that being said I don't understand all the moan about the S-class in standard trim because I can't see anything aggressive and sporty about the F01 which is more laid back than the latest bimmers.

It is interesting how things age. The A8 has aged very well ...but it is definitely starting to look a little older ...next to the new BMW. The S class will get its face lift in time to keep it fresh for a while longer. There are some details on the S that (as predicted) are starting to date -- most notably the rear lights -- mark my words, they will be changed (the painted bars will go).

When F01 & W211 in standard trim are compared side by side IRL it's obvious F01 looks much more interesting & attracts much more interest & attention.

Not that S-class is dated or badly designed but ... The car is designed to attract clientèle with different tastes. Let's say it's design is definitely more sedative.

^ For me personally, I would agree with that completely. The W221 certainly has been a very successful model for Mercedes .....I very much appreciate its many fine attributes.

Exactly, but that's why they have the AMG kit to make it attractive to the more dynamic buyers.

Last 7er wasnt aggressive, my babybimmer isnt looking agrresive either, neither is the 6-series. BMW has made non-aggressive cars before.

I havent said that standard F01 is aggressive. You got that wrong.
I still dont like the large kidneys and the rearlights are too large for my taste. Also I dont think its the best designed BMW either. But the 7er makes this bmw more up-to-date, modern and fresh than a S-class or A8, with that said I'm not saying its the best looking car in this class. However I adore the interior, I simply loving it.

Some lipstick on a pig doesn't make it a chick.

Or how the saying goes anyway ...

Are you referring to the F01 and it's giant nostrils?

What is this obsession so many people have with 'Aggressive' car designs ...aggresive isn't necessarily better looking ....Ferraris are hardly ever aggressive, Porsches are not aggressive ...the Pagani Zonda is not aggressive -- what's the deal?

I agree, there seem to be little appreciation for purity of letting a car's design speak for itself instead of being hotted up with a sport kit. There are some here who have various times expressed their dislike for the C, S and CL without AMG-kit. Quite preposterous if you ask me. But on the other hand I can't deny that the S-class and CL look astonishingly more attractive in AMG trim.
