For those of you who are interested and don't yet know, Driver's Republic features some of the UK's most prolific and talented motoring journalists. Particular favourites of mine are Richard Meaden and Jethro Bovingdon formally of EVO. IIRC Chris Harris from Autocar is also a contributor. In fact, it's like having an EVO magazine in your web browser instead of in your hands.

Back on topic, there's no doubt in my mind that the RS6 remains a special car in its own right, in the mold of the old RS6 as a big hitting wagon. But clearly, this time round, regardless of its impeachable build quality or thunderous performance allied with quattro security, I feel that the RS6 is now a step too far. As much as I like it and other Audi performance wagons...

The C63 AMG wagon is a cool car but even it too is a little off the scale. So, if it were my money the now retired RS4 remains my cool hyper-wagon of choice. I think there are a couple still doing the rounds in demo stock down here...

I just wish they had thrown the RS4 Avant in the mix, it remains my favorite wagon too.

Wagons have no right to be this hot. The C63's arse is squirmy in those turns, while the Audi stays planted. C63 sounds much better though.

The RS6 is more like the S65, you buy it for immense straight line thrust, rather than to race with grocery bags in like the M5 touring or RS4 Avant.
