Don't fret; we don't get it here either. I have two suspicions as to why: a) it requires premium octane ratings b) our fuel quality is questionable regarding impurities. Speaking for RSA of course...

I think it is because of the fuel quality. Direct injection engines has a higher compression ratio, and it requires petrol with high RON.

Yep right! It isn't. And the 305 hp engine of the SLK 350 is also without DI!

That's interesting,then why this wonderful engine isn't generalized across the board? it doesn't need high quality fuel,cheaper to manufacture and have the highest output? damn i'd love to see a 315hp C350

It also has no variable intake manifold as well. Apparently this will improve engine response but sacrifice a little bit of low end torque delivery.

Are you sure it isn't (the one in the SL)? I was under the impression it was.

It's definitely without the DI! I just checked the Mercedes homepage. It's just an update of the "old" 272 hp V6!

Wow, that is just impressive! Only a few years converting back to DOHC and now dare I say the best N/A six-cylinder this side of Porsche? Imagine it with DI!
