Yeah ....I don't think they will. I really think Maybach could work. The Brand has impeccable credentials ....and despite the disappointment in terms of sales, the brand has gained much recognition and is highly respected.

Easy there fellas!

But Marcus, what do you expect for reaction of anyone about that BS comment that Phantom's fit and finish is not as good as the one in Phaeton?

Please, that's the crap of the day!

I'm not even in arguing mode guys, just couldn't help but point that out.

Anyway, no one believe that a RR isn't where it should be, but I just asked the question of maybe one particular car (that was tested) got by with some flaws. Thats all.

^ The Phaeton is exceptionally well built -- I don't think it is an entirely outrageous statement.

Re: [Times Online] Maybach vs. RR Phantom: My land yacht is better than yours

Honestly, saying that the RR is poorly finished, not as good as the Phaeton, is a ridiculous statement. I sat in a Phaeton, it's well finished but not exceptional. I hope, I know the Phantom is ten times better than it in terms of finish.

However, it may be that the Maybach is slightly better finished. And like Rob said, it's merely an impression you get. The Phantom is designed like an older car, so it needs craftmanship and attention to details (for instance the veines of the wood...) that maybe has been lost or would be too costly.

The Maybach is more modern in its execution, with flat wood panels, so easier to build and without these little details that could reveal that this isn't built like in the 1960's. Hence the impression that it's better finished... which in fact is only based on little aesthetic details.

But saying a Phaeton is better finished...

What is clear is that the Arnage is better than both in terms of finish and interior. It IS built like in the 1960's.

The build quality is excellent ...but very machine-made/mass-produced. But there is no feeling af rarity ....nothing to leave you in awe.

Re: [Times Online] Maybach vs. RR Phantom: My land yacht is better than yours

I think the Maybach appeals to the crowd that value "conservatism" above all. In a Rolls Royce Phantom heads will turn if you roll up the street with it. In a Maybach, this isn't usually the case.

This is an impression I got when I talked to a Maybach owner in London once. He said that he personally was looking for a comfortable ultra-luxury car that doesn't "catch to many glimpses" at the stoplight.

Re: [Times Online] Maybach vs. RR Phantom: My land yacht is better than yours

When I was in Vegas, I saw two RR, one convertible and one with a roof driving on the strip with loud music on. I think It was Hiphop dudes driving. RR certainly is more bling bling than a Maybach
