Autobild: Audi A4 Avant 1.8 TFSI vs BMW 320i Touring vs Mercedes C180 Kompressor T..

1st Place: Audi A4 Avant 1.8 TFSI
Best all-round car with good handling, comfort, roominess and value-for-money. Excellent performance characteristics and engine refinement. Great interior.

2nd Place: Mercedes C180 Kompressor T-Modell
Good all-round car that does everything well. Engine feels outdated compared to competition but makes up for this with good power. Biggest and easiest to access/load trunk. Best safety features and equipment of the trio.

3rd Place: BMW 320i Touring
Overall good car with good handling. Major weakness is the lackluster and lazy engine and comfort. Trunk space is small compared to competition. Brakes are not as good as those of the competition.

Glad to see he is fine

Good test, seeing the 3er next to the new comers i can't help but say the FL can't come soon enough especially the rear.I thought i would like the A4 avant better than the C but i think The C T-model looks better IMO.

A4 Avant is so much better than the sedan. The sedan just don't cut it...

Re: Autobild: Audi A4 Avant 1.8 TFSI vs BMW 320i Touring vs Mercedes C180 Kompressor

The Audi does NOT have a great interior. While the design is excellent and extremely attractive, the quality is subpar. I had a poke around them for a while at the dealership today, and I truly can say the plastic quality is poor, or felt that way at least. It really is a big step back for Audi with a plethora of differently textured overly hard plastic parts. It seems pieced together from too many parts and they've just gone overboard with all the 'stitching' on the seats. The buttons and knobs were also made from shiny black plastic which no longer had the beautifully damped and rubbery feel.

Maybe I'm being overly critical because of what I expect from Audi, but from touch and feel the C-class felt more premium. And while the design of the C can look boring in print, it is much more cohesive and attractive in person. Audi has dropped the ball here. I think the loss of their chief interior designer is starting to show.

Magazine editors, like most people, have their own opinions.

I personally find all three interiors here to be good in their own way.
