Zonda for me, perfect balance between form and function. The quintessential supercar of the 21st century. | | | | | Fanatic

I would take the CGT... Perfect! I think the McLaren would be second and the Zonda third.
Erh, Tarek, the SLR 722... You know I'm a MB fan, but honestly, the SLR even 722 has no place here. Motorwise, well...sub-par, obviously. Drivetrain, also sub-par. The gearbox...a joke.
The SLR is not a supercar for me, it's a big overpriced GT that looks insanely good and makes a terrific noise. Not a track-machine, and not on par with any of these 6 marvels IMO.
No, it is more the Maserati MC12 who could have a place here. | | | | | Devotee

Such an old-school W124-like tranny has no place in a supercar. Even in the W204 it feels outdated, and here we don't even consider throttle-blips.
The drivetrain is not the best, and the fact that it's front-engined is not an excuse.
Fact is, this car has some rather big flaws, and thus can't pretend to be one of the very best supercars ever made. It's a fabulous car, but on on the same level as a CGT od an F1. IMO at least. | | | | | Global Moderator

wow, what a spectacular read! Thanks for posting once again
The Mclaren F1 is still legendary. Even after all these years, it is still indeed comparable to modern supercars. Enormous respect.
From the current range of cars in Production:
1) Zonda F <<--- because it really does make me feel like a 10 year old again
2) Bugatti Veyron
3) Carrera GT
4) CCX
5) Enzo | | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to BMW Power For This Useful Post: | | | Fanatic

Anyway, F1 was the world’s first production road car to feature an all CF monocoque chassis and body structure where as, I believe, in SLR only the body is CF. And for exotic materials, who can forget the gold foil covered engine bay.
BTW, F1 is still the fastest NA car in the world - testimony to the S70 monster powering it.
SLR is just a 599GTB competitor with a bigger price tag and minus the handling. | | | | | Aficionado

F1 LM is still the most powerful NA car in the world.
And none of the other cars have a central driving position. | | | | |
