Wow, pretty weak acceleration times for the BMW

Feel the wrath of ingolstadt! 1-3 years ago the bimmers were always on top in all comparisons when it came to speed and acceleration. The tables have turned, Audi truly has the best engine program in world especially those available for the A4 and A5.

Re: [scans] AMS: Audi A5 1.8 T vs. BMW 320i Coupé

Its the same engine I have in my babybimmer and I can agree its not superfast from 0-100km/h (although its fast enough for daily-use). However, the engine is doing a better job on the freeway.

But I must say its very fun to keep the engine reeving between 5000-7000 rpm and playing with the gears.

Yesterday I was doing 220km/h (on the speedo on the highway). Very stable and the car gave you fantastic confidence.

Another good point with the car is its fuel efficient. Good thing when the gas is so expensive today. My car is drinking between 0.7 - 0.78 lit/mil and then Im using the throttle a lot.

Umm, I don't know about the lower end 4 cylinder ones (which we don't get here in the US) but in the upper end, BMW engines are better than the Audi ones (and MB ones for that matter) especially in the E90/E92.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion... even if it is completely unfounded. I agree that in some cases todays I4 engines from BMW are not as good as the higher end versions (and todays 1.8T engine seems nie enough even if it is dull). But Audi being better in every sense? No way. BMW still builds the best engines in this class. Simple as that.
