M3 is a bit faster in the corners, the Merc is only faster at the straight line. Precise steering, nearly neutral cornering by the M3, mostly understeer by the Merc, but with a 'heavier right feet' it can easily go to oversteer. Acceleration: with it's 37 hp more power the C63 beats the M3 on the straight line acceleration. With it's 4,4 s 0-100 and 14,0 s 0-200-time it lines up with the BMW M5 and Alpina B5. Due to the very long gearing of the 7-speed-auto the C63 can't match the M3's flexibility.
Everyday use: M3 9/10, C63 8/10. Fun-factor: M3 8/10, C63 8/10. *Perf. Pack with: Bigger brakes, LSD, sport suspension | | | | | The Following 12 Users Say Thank You to DeDe For This Useful Post: | Alwing (03-30-2008), bmer (03-30-2008), BMW Power (03-30-2008), castagna (03-30-2008), cawimmer430 (03-30-2008), far2000 (04-02-2008), Guibo (03-30-2008), Imhotep Evil (03-30-2008), KokkenTor (03-30-2008), Merc1 (03-30-2008), ree (03-30-2008), Tarek (03-31-2008) | | Contributor

M | That would be like Porsche unleashing a long wheel base version of the 911 Turbo. In other words very redundant since a four door passenger car don't belong on the track.
We've already seen a handful of complaints about the C63's suspension being harsh so the car is already maxed out in terms of suspension and power. The only thing MB can do to improve it, is to magically reduce the weight by 75-100kg.
Those who dream about a BS version of the C63 can always buy the CLK63.
BTW. I would like to see the spec sheet for the M3 they tested. I can't figure out what options might possibly add up to 20k for a car which already comes well equipped. | | | | | Contributor

Any car can be improved upon. The C63 doesn't have the full strength of the 6.2L AMG V8 either. Suspension wise yes they'd have to go back to the drawing board. If they can take the CLK63 and transform it they way they did, the same can be done with the C63. The regular CLK63 coupe didn't set the track afire either, but in Black Series form it does. Its the same chassis from C to CLK so 2 or 4 doors really doesn't matter.

M | Having seem how the car somewhat struggles to get all the power down to the ground more power won't do it any good. The power is sufficient as it is. I wonder if something can be done to the electronics to improve power delivery and make the car more efficient.
The CLK BS, although a highly desirable car goes around the ring as fast as the E92 M3 and will probably be turned into toast by the M3 CSL. | | | | | Enthusiast
