Well I fully expected the CL65 to win this on the objectives, but subjectively most will pick the DBS nearly everytime. There is no Bentley Frog for me to beat up on here so.....with a heavy heart and tears in eyes I'd have to go with the DBS. Though the CL65 isn't nearly the chump that some of you here are trying to make it out to be. Of course the CL65 is the better everyday car and better than the Aston-Martin in thousands of small ways pertaining to being a "regular" car. No way little itty-bitty Aston-Martin can build an equal car for the daily grind. That said Benz simply can't draw a shape, make a sound or turn a wheel in the way that Aston-Martin does it with the DBS. For it is the most beautiful production car on the planet and thus takes it for me. For the look and sound of it, the Aston wins by a hair.

That 0-100 time is ridiculous. The CL65 is faster than that. The CL63 would be a better match for the DBS, CL65 just isn't as sporty despite the huge firepower.

The DBS is a mysterious car. Around Hockenheim it's faster than the 997TT.

Very very hard...

I absolutely love the CL, I adore it. A marvellous car.
However, the 65 makes few sense compared to the 63.

And the DBS... What a marvel! The noise, the look, the everything...It is a Goddess. Perhaps the most beautiful car on the market.

Therefore I voted for it. The CL is easier to live with, better build, more comfortable and equipped...It is beautiful too, really beautiful.

But the DBS is a heart-taker. Just can't resist such a shape. The motor is a masterpeice too, more noisy and sporty than the 65.

The choice would may be harder against the CL 63 AMG, but I think I would go for the DBS too.

Anyway, they are not really competitors. The DBS is a racer, the CL more a big GT...

These two are amongst the best cars on sale today.

Great posts everyone, who choose the DBS!! I adopt your view - and choose the DBS here. It's just an awesome looking car... the CL isn't bad at all, but compared to the DBS, design, sound, engine...

This is a toughie for myself.

If the comparison was pitting a standard DB9 against a CL (whether it be a 63 or a 65), I wouldn't think twice and opt for the Mercedes. However, when the DBS is brought into the picture, my personal decision is greatly affected as it's undeniably more evocative than standard unit.

With the DBS you get the in-your-face looks, the sweet sound of a V12 bellow and a ride which is that little bit more sporty. The CL65 on the otherhand, is that little bit more comfortable, understated and thumping.

And I can't decide between the two at moment.

Aston for me! Beautiful and very faaast! The best Aston ever.

The Aston is the most beautiful car in the world IMO, but to live with every I'd take the CL. For absolute automotive refinement and comfort all must give way. Engineering excellence, if not elegance, comes no better then the Mercedes CL.
