Any body do not agree with me??
So why you need all the power "when you are driving in legal street"?

And how much handling is "enough handling"? Why not enough power? Even a Hummer has enough handling to negotiate your normal exit ramp at a safe phase with out tumbling over, so I guess that is "enough handling".

And last but not least you don't have to spend half your life at track to appreciate a good handling car.

Take into account that the C63 wasn't equipped with the Performance Package and.....had a nail in one of its tires

cool test .. as we all knew the M3 is the better track car..
im surprised that ppl still need confirmation on this fact..

on the other hand in 8 out of 10 everyday situations the C63 would eat the M3..
and the big thing is,,that it does not feel dissconnected like previous AMG´s..
it has a good feel to it..and good fun..

Haha then the car lost its balance because the weight was not well distributed anymore...Too much weight on the side of the puncture because of the nail and repair liquid.

And a lower pressure on a tyres explained why it was slower than the M3 and less balanced.

No seriously, I think it is clear now that the M3 is both a bit faster and a bit more comfortable, and that it seems to be less difficult on the limit.
The C63 is more raw, brutal, feels more powerful, has more steering feel...Accelerates faster.

But first, nobody drives these cars on the limit and without ESP, second these limits are so far that nobody "normal" can reach them on the read without driving like a madman (and then crash, with any car).

These two are so close that you can't be wrong with any of the two. It is a matter of personal preference, but gone is the time where a M3 owner could see an AMG owner with some kind of commiseration. And that is a milestone given how good an M3 is.
Remember that many reviews were saying the C63 better, and faster than the M3, before the head-to-head tests. It means the C63 even can be considered as more entertaining and fun in everyday situation...when you have no tome-attack, track and professional driver...

Two fabulous pieces of engineering, two fabulous pieces of dream.

If Im after power I will buy myself a tuned 335i. I've seen it with my own eyes how a tuned 335i beating the new M3 in straightline. Better up I buy myself a ugly 700hp Fast&furious wannabe Toyota Supra, should be enough power for me.

Re: 5Th Gear: M3 V8 vs C63 AMG - 01-29-2008, 07:40 AM

I saw this on 5th gear last night. 5th gear presenters (just like Top Gear presenters a few weeks back) referred to the M3 COUPE as a SALOON. Why? Have they forgotten that the there is a separate M3 saloon? The M3 COUPE would beat the M3 saloon in all 3 tests (probably not much difference in the drifting contest though). We all know the Saloon is fractionally heavier and slower than the Coupe. So why do these shows act like there is no difference and call the coupe a saloon? I don't get it.

I'm with atuv on this one. I want to see the C63 AMG tested against the M3 E90 (with DCT) as this is the most accurate comparison, even though DCT is not exactly the same as the auto.

For the record, I prefer the M3 and I am considering the M3 saloon with DCT as my next car.

The fact that the M3 coupe has a better diff and 200kg lighter weight and it's a coupe hence the lower center of gravity is responsible for the better track run is facts not excuses

Re: 5Th Gear: M3 V8 vs C63 AMG - 01-29-2008, 08:00 AM

But it sure sound like it when I hear those "what if" arguments J/k
C63 has more powerful engine, "what if" M3 ........, "what if" the M3 had the M driver package ....., "what if" the C63 had a diff ....., "what if the C63 weigh less ...., "what if" the RS4 had RWD ...., "what if" the RS4 had more power..... .

It doens't work like that, we have to accept how the cars were built. BMW and MB has built their cars in way they thought is the best for their performance cars. "what if" arguments are just wishful thinking. It's not the other carmakers fault that one has better advantage than the other car. Its not like I'm different from you guys but we have to accept how these cars were built.

I'm sure you guys get my drift.

Funny thing is on the public streets it will be a rare moment if you meet a C63 thats going to race and drift with you when you're driving your M3. Or vice verse. You dont buy a C63 because you hope one day meet M3 to race. You buy yourself a M3 or a C63 for other reasons.
As usual, its just another fanboy pissing contest on this board

We can all appreciate that a fair amount of excuses are flying around here.

What you are stating is by no means facts. They are assumtions. Until those assumtions are backed up for example a test they will remain assumtions. Since we do not have a M3 sedan at hand we can only guess, by all means qualified guesses, but they are not facts.
