DTS doesn't compete against S and 7. It is more of a Lincoln Town Car competitor. In any event, STS and DTS will soon be dropped and Cadillac will realign its models to compete more directly. There will be a car smaller than the CTS to take on the C/3 and the replacement for the STS/DTS will be closer to the S/7. | |

Actually, the STS and DTS have not been dropped. The STS is actually very much new and it is relatively the same size as the E and 5. The CTS is the entry level sedan, yes it's larger then the entry level Germans, but it is in the same segment. The DTS is in the large luxury size segment like the town car. Yes, it lacks the technology and a few other things, but they are competitors size wise to the 7 and S.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: M3 & C63 AMG Killer? Yes or No Cadillac's cars sit in between the German cars. The CTS-V is priced like a M3/C63/RS4, but it has the power and nearly the size to compete with the E63/M5/RS6. That has been their story for a while now. This time around though the M3 and RS4 are done as far as power is concerned and even the MB C63 is behind in power. I expect the CTS-V to easily be faster than the M3, IS-F, or RS4 and slight faster or the same as the C63. Depending on who is doing the testing. Car and Driver's are the numbers I'll wait for, always a surprise there. Now against the M5, E63 and pending RS6 the CTS-V likely still won't topple them. The BMW I'm betting will still be more of a track car than the CTS-V and the RS6 will actually beat it in power (580hp), so that leaves the E63 as the one that will take most of the blows in the comparos, IMO. Quite the impressive machine this Cadillac is. I'll wait to see what the mags say on how it drives before passing judgement because on paper it looks like real trouble for AMG/M/RS. The DTS doesn't compete with the S-Class or 7-Series, it is at least 10 years behind those cars in technology, especially compared to the S-Class. Now FWD barge competes with the best from Germany. Cadillac's cars straddle the classes. CTS = priced like a 3/C/A4 but sized closer to the 5/E/A6. STS = priced like an 5/E/A6, but sized closer to the S/7/A8. Both the CTS and STS are sized in between the classes they are priced in and next one up from Germany or Japan. M

The CTS is still a muscle car, will be fast on the straight line but on a race track it will be killed by the M3 or C63. [And it's very ugly, IMO]. My favorite car is the M3, but we're talking about muscle cars, so I voted for the C63 AMG. ![]()

I highly doubt the CTS will outpace the C63 in straight line performance, infact it will barely outpace the M3 ... Remember the horses really wont have the launch you get in German performance cars especially for the fact that its an american car, plus I highly doubt the tranny is any quicker either, I think thats just a waste of horsepower, i dont think it has the right rest of the package, im sure of it , look at the tires for christ's sake !!! Anyway C63 takes my vote ..... M3 coupe is my second pick, a close second ... ![]()
