I did suggest to Dad getting a Skoda but he wasn't so pleased on the looks! Is it really going to be as refined and good quality as the audi or not! Has anyone had any experience with the Skoda?

I don't have any experience with the Skoda Octavia but I've read reviews that the car is better than most people assume it is.
Anyway, other recommendations are a Toyota Avensis Wagon or the Honda Accord? Both have good diesels.

Re: Need Help recommending a car for my Dad!

I've sat in Skodas before and well, they are better made than you think. Its VW brothers have a less fancy interior but VWs are slightly more expensive! I'd say, go for a test-drive and see what your dad says. The wood trim in the Skodas aren't particularly stunning, but that's what you pay for. It's really worth the money and the doors are very, very heavy. One problem is the engines - though you can try the new Octavia RS with the Golf GTI engine (is it the Octavia?).

Be ready to see some old VAG technology though.
